About Us

How did this journey begin? Well, I can only thank my mother. I remember following my mother up and down the aisles of fabric stores as a child. She would spend what felt like hours - touching textures, seeing possibilities, and dreaming. Mother made our clothes as we grew up and it didn’t stop there. She crocheted, knitted, embroidered, painted, played the guitar, piano, and organ... her way of keeping busy. Mother taught me how to sew at the age of 10 and, little did I know at the time, how deeply this would influence the rest of my life. She instilled in me the desire to be creative, to be an artist in my own right.

(You may recognize this next part of the story...) For years, I worked in the corporate world and, day after day, I found that I had less and less energy to nurture the creative part of myself. Like a lot of people as they enter their 40’s, I began to take stock of what was really important to me in my life. It was then that I started to carefully plan and, a year-and-a-half later, www.TheQuiltersStash.com was launched. I have always wanted to be a shop owner as far back as I can remember. I have enjoyed sewing, cross-stitching, crocheting, making pottery, playing the piano and, now, pen & ink. Most of all, I enjoy being surrounded by lovely things. What could be more lovely than beautiful fabrics!?! It was important to start this adventure, to use my skills as a business woman and couple those skills with something that I love so very much.

I also believe in offering you, the customer, a quality product at an affordable price. It is my desire to offer beautiful fabrics that can fit any quilter's budget. So, please come back often and look around. You may find your inspiration and energy levels return. I hope so!

Anne Howard
PS - My mother is gone now, but I have a feeling that she's looking down and smiling...
